The Vanishing Canopy

We recently specified three playful pendant lights called Junit and we included the Vanishing Point Invisible Canopy for an atypical outcome. Normally, light fixtures have visible canopies about 5 inches wide and .5 to .75 inches thick, which can distract from unique designs like this one.

We spent considerable time deciding how high to hang each fixture and how far apart they should be by placing them on the floor. They came in several pieces that resembled building blocks, making the assembly process enjoyable and satisfying. We’re pretty pleased with the final result!

Room Service Tip #15:

Make lighting a top priority of your room design.

Using different types of lighting in a room improves mood and atmosphere. Placing lamps or pendant lights can make corners feel cozy. Use picture lights or sconces to highlight artwork and create a gallery feel. In dining areas, entries, and staircases, choose bold light fixtures that stand out and add character. These eye-catching pieces can spark interest and impress guests. When trying out various lighting styles, expect some trial and error. Enjoy the process, and consider adding dimmer switches for adjustable brightness, helping set the right mood for any occasion. Overall, lighting should be a “fun” part of your home design!
